Sing to the Lord a New Song!

One of the highlights of Living Hope's weekly service is the use of the Worship Arts - uplifting, moving and always something new and exciting, whether it be drama, music, multimedia presentations, or some other original form of worship. Our very talented band members and singers bring new meaning to making a "joyful noise unto the Lord", and our actors can truly provide a "realistic perspective" on dealing with today's society with a Christian resolve.

Living Hope is always looking for fresh ideas and new participants -- if you are artistically inclined and love to praise and worship through song, instruments, drama, media, or other art forms, please contact Chas Childers or the church office at (770) 425-6726.

Vision - Vision

God has planned a church for us... That is centered in faith in Jesus, our Savior who died to save us from sin and reconcile us with God our Father. That produces fully devoted Disciples of Christ. That prays constantly. That is led by visionary leaders who empower others, managed by passionate and professional Christian staff, and brought to life by an army of volunteers full of fire and passion and perfectly tasked to use their gifts in service to God. Where our LCMS affiliation and history is a platform from which to move forward. That is visible and mighty force in West Cobb Community and around the world by developing ministries relevant to families. That embraces a contemporary style of worship rich with modern performing arts such as music and drama. Where every member is part of a small group where individual Christians can find intimate community, practical help, intensive spiritual interaction and Biblical insights to the everyday issues of life. That is free of worldly debt and uses the abundant provision He provides to make His vision for us a reality. Where excellence is evident in all we do. No matter what we do, He asked that we do it with the intention of it being done to the best of our ability. That is embodied by a contagious membership, acting in love and visibly bearing the fruits of the Holy Spirit, constantly evangelizing and bringing thousands of new disciples to Him. That is full of fellowship.

What We Believe - About Us

We don't know where you are in your faith walk, but we understand that questions are worth answering. While it's impossible to answer every question you might have, we this overview will at least provide a start. The mission of Living Hope Church is to share Christ in a relevant way to transform lives. The basis of our mission comes from our beliefs, which are shared below:

God

There is only one true God and He exists in three separate but equal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

God the Father is our maker and the creator of all things. By the Father's word, all things were made, and we are HIs most beloved creation; we are closest to His heart. The Son is Jesus Christ, who came to earth as the perfect "go-between" between God and humanity. He has redeemed us and is the voice to the Father on our behalf. The Holy Spirit calls us to believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior, keeps us in the one true faith, and equips us for living out our faith. He is the whisper in our heart's ear.

Salvation

Salvation is reconnection with God, the Maker, through the person and work of Jesus Christ, His Son. God sent his only begotten Son into the world to offer all people the one way to God, and then He died on a cross and rose from the grave to become the way for all people. Whoever believes this gracious promise from God and receives His Son as Savior, also receives the gift of forgiveness of all moral failure, begins to experience immediate eternal life now, and receives God's promise of entrance into life with Him after the grave. This right standing before God is received as a free gift from God and cannot be earned.

Church

Through the work of the Holy Spirit, God gathers people who receive Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord into a community of believers who share the same belief and who are related to one another through their common relationship to God their Father. Those in the Church, also called the Body of Christ, find their place in the body by discovering, developing and using their unique gifts from God to fulfill their purpose in the Church and in the world.

Bible

The Bible is a collection of 66 writings over a thousand year period, all with a common theme. The 39 "books" of the Old Testament describe how ancient prophets report communications they received from God, which are both inspired and without error or conflict, predicting the coming of God's Messiah or Savior into the world.

The 27 "writings" of the New Testament, biographies of Jesus, an historic account called Acts, and letters from various apostles, all agree in their messages that Jesus, called the Christ, fulfilled ancient expectations of the Prophets, in presenting God's unconditional and sacrificial love in such a way that the people God has made are brought into an enriching and fulfilling relationship with Himself.

Baptism

This sacred act fulfills a gracious promise God made to do a remarkable thing in the lives of those coming to Him through the water of baptism. Since this is an act of God, not a mere profession of faith, adults as well as children benefit from this physical demonstration of the grace of God. Little ones are brought to faith through this covenant with God as with circumcision in Old Testament times. Adults confirm their faith and receive God's many benefits in this washing of regeneration. Scriptures speak of no age limits nor specify any particular mode of baptism. We receive the blessings of baptism that God promises to deliver when water is applied with any mode, in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Because we are baptized into Christ, and not any particular denomination, we do not re-baptize anyone properly baptized with water in the name of God.

The Lord's Supper

This is the second sacred act we believe God performs as people receive the promise Jesus made to all His disciples the night He was betrayed. After He celebrated the Passover, Jesus took bread and wine, blessed it and gave it to His disciples, calling it His very own body and blood. He commanded them to repeat this often.

As we set aside the bread and wine in our services, repeating the promise of Christ, we believe Jesus keeps His promise and comes to be present in the bread and wine, entering the recipients with divine power to renew faith, forgive sin and provide spiritual power needed to live out the new life in Christ.

Prayer

This is a precious gift of confident communication with God. All who pray in Jesus' name are assured their prayers are heard and answered according to God's good and gracious will.

He always answers all such prayers in His own way and in His time.

Therefore the daily use of prayer is combined with daily reading of God's word, to create and enable a dynamic daily experience of God's presence.

We at Living Hope want you to come as you are and be yourself. If you're more comfortable in blue jeans, that's fine. If you feel better in a suit and tie, that's fine too. We aren't concerned about what you wear, we just want you to hear the word of God and feel the absolute peace in Christ that flows through message, music, and prayer.

We will greet you at the door and then give you space to worship as you choose. If you want more information, feel free to ask any of the greeters. We will never single you out or put you on the spot as a guest. And please feel free to enjoy coffee and snacks after the service.

Unfortunately, most Christians have been taught only God's principleof handling 10 percent of their income -- the area of giving. Although this is crucial, they do not understand the Lord's perspective of handling the other 90 percent. In the Crown Study, you will learn what Scripture teaches about managing all your possessions.

Living Hope is a church of small groups and therefore we encourage every member, friend, visitor or anyone in the area to join one of our many Connect Groups for development of friendships. Groups meet regularly, often eat together, study, pray, but primarily exist to foster positive encouraging relationships. Connect groups assist our Pastor and Elders in providing good pastoral care and often used as communication tools about positive ministry developments.

Living Hope is a worshiping community striving to be truly relevant:

Sunday mornings at 9:00am and 11:15am. Living Hope offers Adult worship filled with contemporary music, moving drama, relevant teaching and multi-media presentations. The presence of Jesus Christ is celebrated in the Lord's Supper the first and third Sunday of each month. Christian baptisms also remind us of our new identity as members of the family of God. The warm, casual environment welcomes those who dress up for worship and those who come as they are.

Relax!
That's the best advice we can give anyone who's considering a visit to Living Hope. We want you to come as you are and be yourself.

If you want more information, feel free to ask Pastor Rick or any of the greeters. We will never single you out or put you on the spot as a visitor. And please feel free to enjoy coffee and snacks after the service.

The Small Group Study is a 10 week in-depth study of what scripture teaches about money and possessions. Graduates have confirmed that marriages are being strengthened and individuals are finding their way out of debt. They are also becoming consistent savers, generous givers, and prudent consumers. Most importantly, people are entering into a closer relationship with Jesus Christ as they learn to apply His Word. Groups meet for 2 hours every week and include scripture memorization and interactive discussions.
